Chaba is a new project that Bright Hope is looking into. I spent seven hours on a boat to go and visit it. Its not that it is that far away but it can take 9-12 hours to drive the 200kms. It was so nice going across in the boat and even getting to swim for a few minutes. I was so nice to swim in moving water!!
The people in Chaba are amazing especially those running the project. They have 230 orphans, widows and disabled that they want to assist. They have a great garden project going on and are working hard to make what little they have go a long, long way.

Despite Chaba being a fishing village we were fed tough village chicken- (I know i don't eat chicken but you have to do what you have to do!!!!) I also got to taste cassava nshima which is ground up cassava made into a porridge-
YUCK!! It tasted (and smelled) like wet dog!.

Hi, Brenda,
Thanks for the email mentioning your blog. In Congo we called Cassava flour paste Fufu, it tastes better used as a holder for a little of the sauce and with some Chilli paste added! But "wet dog" captures its lack of initial attraction so well!
